    Baghdad / Sky Press:

Israeli police have questioned a former minister and political adviser as investigations into a corruption case related to the deal to buy the German submarine Dolphin have expanded.

Until Wednesday, Sept. 6, authorities arrested Eliezer Sandberg, who was minister of science and technology in 2003 and the infrastructure minister in 2004, after being investigated, police said.

The authorities also met with Rami Tayeb, adviser to Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz, and renewed his detention until Wednesday, according to police.

The police also investigated a third suspect, identified as a former senior member of the Israeli National Security Council.

The investigation comes after six people were arrested for questioning in the same case, including David Sharan, former director of the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In July, an Israeli official announced that Germany had delayed signing a deal with Israel for the sale of three submarines from the German group Tysenkrupp.

The decision came after the arrest of several people suspected of involvement, especially in corruption and bribery and laundering money related to the deal.

In February, the Israeli Justice Ministry announced an investigation into the case, noting that Netanyahu personally was not considered a suspect.

David Shimron, a close associate of Netanyahu and his personal lawyer, who represented Tysenkrupp in Israel, was arrested under investigation before he was released.

According to media reports, Sunday's arrests came after information from the representative of the German group Taysenkrupp in Israel, Michel Ganor, who has been suspended for some time.

Ganor agreed to an agreement allowing him to testify against alleged corruption partners in exchange for a lighter sentence.

Military experts say the submarines Israel has ordered are likely to be supplied with nuclear missiles, although its main aim is to spy on or attack Iran in the event of a nuclear war.

The Israeli newspaper Maariv said the Israeli army already had five of the latest models of German submarines.
