US President Donald Trump on Thursday received Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa at the White House.
"It is a great honor for me to welcome the Crown Prince of Bahrain to the Oval Office," Trump said in a televised address to White House correspondents.
"We do a lot of deals, they buy a lot of things from the US, as I've heard about $ 9 billion, and that's good, great, we appreciate it," Trump said.
"We have long and great relations with the United States and Bahrain, and it will be better," he said, referring to relations between the two countries.
"It is a great honor for me to be here. This is a very important journey for us. We are certainly building on the 100-year relationship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States that has served the people of both countries and will continue to seek ways to strengthen it," he said.
The Bahraini Crown Prince began a visit to the United States on Tuesday with US Secretary of State Rex Tilerson and then retired Defense Secretary James Matisse. The two sides signed an extension of the defense cooperation agreement between the United States and Bahrain.
