The Australian Supreme Court on Saturday called on the New Zealand authorities to extradite a smuggler of Iraqi asylum seekers for human trafficking and the death of 353 people, calling for his trial as soon as possible.
Australian media reported that the Iraqi refugee residing in New Zealand with his wife and three children since 2009 is wanted in Australia on charges of sending human trafficking boats to asylum seekers and migrants from Indonesia to Australia illegally, while a boat sank and 353 people died. .
The Australian government is demanding that the New Zealand authorities extradite the accused on the basis of the Extradition Act, where he can refer the case to the Australian Minister of Justice.
