Parliament warns of "fake" universities and demands the Ministry of Education to hold them accountable

     Baghdad / Range

The Parliamentary Education Committee announced on Tuesday the lifting of the names of 6 universities to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to take legal action against them. Committee member Birwan Khailani said that "through the vote on the law of private education was able to monitor the private universities and mechanisms of opening, where 6 names of fake universities have been submitted to the Ministry of Education to take legal action against them, noting that work is underway by the Supervisory and Scientific Assessment in Ministry of Education to look for fake universities. "
"These universities are distributed in the province of Najaf, Karbala, Babil and Sulaymaniyah, while students from those who want to register in private universities to visit the Ministry of Education to find out who are the private universities registered and approved by the ministry to be registered."
For years, Iraqi citizens discover that they were exposed to the process Great cheating, by universities giving certificates of no use, or an academic title that is useless to carry only the name. And called on these universities to recover their money or resort to the courts, and demanded that Iraqi higher education institutions clarify their position from these universities, which are constantly multiplying.
Some commercial projects, both inside and outside Iraq, benefit from the possibility of registering themselves as "university" in the chambers of commerce in Western countries, without the real meaning of the word. The term "university" means what centers and primary education courses mean, Even drawing courses and physical training centers, and accordingly, for a person for an amount not to exceed seventy euros to become president of a university.
Ahmed Sadiq Aziz, who was subjected to a fraud of this kind, discovered that the bachelor's degree he received from a university is worthless. He tried to present himself as the new academic and university degree, but the surprise that occurred on his head is that this certificate does not exceed In the value of the price of paper and ink written by him, and he regrets the amounts paid. Munther al-Quraishi says that his experience is painful with these universities. It does not make sense for the real university. It tries to catch up with customers, and then send printed curricula on the typewriter (no formal curriculum) to the students. We have a formal test to give him a certificate.
She adds: Most students of these universities, especially those advertised in the Internet and based in outside Iraq, who missed the opportunity to complete the study early. These universities do not conduct any test to measure the level of the student, and if the test is a formality, and always leads to the success of the student, because these universities managed from homes are only to catch the customer for quick profit. Razaq Hadi describes the student at one of these universities as a fraud and theft. "For four years, I have paid about $ 4,000 for a paper that has no value. Some Iraqis took advantage of the Iraqis' thirst for education and the prospect of university degrees. After 2003, they began publishing ads promoting their products. Resulting in thousands of dollars in profits.
Iraqi academics are aware of these commercial institutions, not educational ones. Some universities are based on housing, and their educational staff does not exceed two or three.
What is surprising is that these universities do not award diplomas in medicine, for example, and other sensitive professions, but most of them give certificates in Humanities, Arts and Languages, studies that rely on the text written and sent, which is often collected by the student from the Internet, to present it as a real search, College degree.
Saad al-Jubouri says his brother in Sweden told him that he had a master's degree and was expected to have received it from a well-known European university, but when he told him it was from an unrecognized Iraqi university, his university did not gain the trust and respect of the Iraqi academic and university community. "I have already paid two thousand dollars," he said. "He stopped now that he was found to have been subjected to a big deception." On the other hand, many students praised the level of some private universities inside Iraq, where they were able to go a good way towards crystallizing their academic personality, and succeeded in providing the Iraqi street with efficient academic capabilities, but the problem today is this breeding and fission in the unrecognized universities in the West.
In a statement to the official of the Department of Scientific Assessment in the Ministry of Higher Education that the ministry does not recognize only the certificate through continuous and complete study, and not by correspondence and affiliation, and must be a certificate within the universities recognized and recognized in that country and recognized by UNESCO. An Iraqi law passed in 1976 forbids the establishment of foreign universities in Iraq and the admission of Iraqi students.
