[ltr]China successfully carried out another test of a missile interceptor system, the defense ministry said Tuesday, describing the move as defensive and not directed against any country.[/ltr]
[ltr]China is intensifying research on all types of missiles, from the possibility of destroying satellites in space to sophisticated ballistic missiles equipped with nuclear warheads under an ambitious modernization project under President Xi Jinping.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Defense Ministry said in a brief statement that "anti-missile missile defense interceptor technology" was tested on Monday within the borders of China.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The test has reached its expected targets," the ministry said. "This test is defensive and not directed at any country." The ministry gave no details.[/ltr]
