Some statistics indicate that Iraq has more than 11 million livestock distributed as follows: 2.552 million head of cattle, 285.5 thousand head of buffalo, 7.722 million sheep, 1,474 million goats and 58.3 thousand camels. Statistics indicate that the total domestic consumption of red meat is more than 202 thousand tons and the value of the importer of these amounts to 72 thousand tons per year, and the value of domestic production of white meat 904 thousand tons and more than 700 million eggs annually, and the regrettable is that the rates of production Which has exacerbated and increased the import rates in order to meet the domestic demand for these materials necessary for all categories of consumers, which increased the rates of depletion of foreign currencies, which impacted the result on the public budget negatively by the waste in the a National financial resources that go to pay off foreign imports of food values, whether red or white meat or fish or eggs. It is necessary for the concerned parties, especially the Ministry of Agriculture, to pay attention to the livestock in Iraq and to provide them with high care in proportion to their strategic importance and in order to achieve self sufficiency of foodstuffs for local consumption. The competent authorities can provide easy loans for farmers, farmers and livestock breeders to build fields To raise these livestock and provide the necessary vaccines to combat diseases that can be exposed and provide feed at low prices and facilitate the routine procedures to obtain licenses to establish these projects and provide tax exemptions to encourage the owners These projects. This is also true of poultry farms, which can be developed and developed by increasing the domestic output of white meat and table eggs, thus providing for domestic consumption. It also requires the expansion of agricultural land and the preservation of existing lands by providing the necessary water resources, ensuring their smoothness and sustainability, and working to combat the scourge of desertification that threatens agricultural lands.
