The Iranian authorities decided today to ban sending visitors to religious shrines in Iraq for two days because of parliamentary elections .

"Visitors will not be sent on Saturday and the next day because of the Iraqi parliamentary elections, " Murtada Hosseini, head of the office of the representative of the Hajj and the Iranian visit to Iraq, was quoted by Fars news agency as saying .

"The road and air routes in Iraq were closed in the previous elections for three days, but Iraqi officials have announced that the roads will be closed for two days only during these elections ." Hosseini added that "we have asked the embassy to investigate this matter to plan for the appropriate dispatch of visitors before or after the elections ." He explained that "during the elections and because of the closure of roads during the said two days will stay convoys of the visit, which happens to be there in the holy cities, and then move after opening the roads according to the program specified for them ."
