Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that "some forces would like to comment on the gallows, as they did with the late Prime Minister Adnan Menderes after the May 27, 1960 coup."
Addressing an election rally in the western state of Manisa, Erdogan added that "the awareness of the Turkish people stands in the way of those wishing to repeat the Menderes execution scenario."
He pointed out that "the patriots in Turkey were subjected to a fierce war led from outside the country," stressing that "the one who waging a war against the patriots in Turkey is the same body that ordered the execution of the late Menderes."
Erdogan accused the leader of the opposition Republican People's Party (KDP), Kamal Klegajdaroglu, of "saluting tanks that besieged Ataturk airport on the night of the failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016, while tens of thousands of young people were fending off democracy."
He also criticized the Turkish president, who rejected some of the development projects in the country, especially the draft railway lines, which arrived in the city of Sivas (central), wondering: "Can these people to be politicians?"
Erdogan said that Turkey had achieved a national income of 30 billion dollars of car exports only, in response to statements by the candidate of the "Republican People" for the presidential elections, Muharram Engha, claiming the decline of Turkey in the automotive industry.
Erdogan noted that the German authorities do not allow Turkish politicians to participate in gatherings of the Turkish communities in Germany, while allowing the supporters of "Bk Ka Ka" terrorist gathering and organization of events, and the protection of the police.
Turkey on Monday commemorated the 58th anniversary of the May 27, 1960 coup, which led to the execution of the late Prime Minister Adnan Menderes by generals and officers who took power in the country at the time.
Twenty-nine years later, on April 11, 1990, the Turkish Parliament ratified a law that took account of Adnan Menderes and his friends who were executed with him.
According to this law, the remains of Menderes, Bulat Gan and Zorolo were taken from the island of Imrali in the Sea of Marmara and buried in official ceremonies on Al Watan Street in Istanbul on 17 September 1990. It
is noteworthy that the Turkish Parliament passed on 28 April, A proposal to the Justice and Development parties and the National Movement to hold early presidential and parliamentary elections on June 24, instead of November 2019.
