    BAGHDAD - The head of the electricity committee in the Basra provincial council Mujib al-Hassani said on Wednesday that the establishment of a thermal power station in the district of Faw, south of Basra, with international specifications and advanced technologies will contribute to the stability of electricity in Basra and Iraq.
    Al-Hassani said in a press statement that "the delegation that visited China included the representative of the Minister of Electricity and the Director General of the production of electricity in the south, Engineer Yasser Farhan, the First Deputy Governor of Basra, Engineer Mohammad Taher Tamimi and a number of specialists at the invitation of Shanghai Heavy Industries Which is specialized in the construction of electrical stations and the manufacture of their equipment for the construction of a thermal power plant capacity (3000) megawatts and produce one million cubic meters per day distilled water for the people of Basra and the island of Faw in the district of Faw, who have suffered for years of salinity and water scarcity.
    "We held a technical meeting with the representative of the Chinese government, the general manager of Shanghai Company and the specialized technical delegation of the manufacturer. Then, the Iraqi and Chinese delegations reviewed the factories of the steam turbines, steam boilers and distillers of the Shanghai company, as well as the steam station, "He said.
    "This station is considered to be one of the most advanced technologies, consisting of 8 steam units, each with a capacity of 350 megawatts and 8 distillates of energy, each of which is 1,250 cubic meters per day." The Iraqi delegation is aware of the possibility of this company, Final agreement for the establishment of the thermal station to be established in the district of FAO to provide services to the children of the judiciary and Basra and our Iraqi people.
