Security and defense reveal an agreement within the committee on the nationality law

A member of the parliamentary Committee on Security and Defense Nayef al - Shammari, Monday, an agreement was within the Committee on the Nationality Law, noting that the law in its current form would undermine the prestige and status of Iraqi nationality. Al-Shammari said in an interview with Alsumaria News that "an agreement was made within the Security and Defense Committee to include a request in today's session to the parliament to vote to reject the Nationality Law and return it to the government."
He added that "the rejection came because the law in its current form will weaken the prestige and status of Iraqi nationality in a number of paragraphs, which should be returned to the government to reformulate it in the best form."
The House of Representatives, on March 19, 2019, that the draft amendments to the Iraqi nationality law is rejected in its current form.
