Sri Lanka on Thursday was alerted, especially after Colombo airport police announced the closure of the road to the airport after a suspicious car was spotted in a nearby parking lot. "All the Catholic churches in Sri Lanka have been asked to close their doors and pray until the security situation stabilizes after the attacks that killed 359 people last Sunday," the official told AFP. 

"On the recommendation of the security forces, we will close all the churches," he said. "Masses will not be held until further notice." 

Earlier on Thursday, Sri Lankan police heard an explosion in the town of Bogoda, 40 km east of Colombo, and there were no injuries so far, according to Sri Lankan police.
