The Information Office of the Council of Representatives, in a statement received / Mawazine News / a copy, that "the Baghdad Regional Forum for the development of institutional mechanisms for the advancement of women, ended its work, which was held for three consecutive days in the capital Baghdad from 25-27 August, with the participation of the Chairperson of the Committee on Women The family and childhood parliamentarian in the House of Representatives, MP Haifa Al-Amin and the Rapporteur of the Committee, MP Safia Sheikho, in the presence of a number of government officials, political figures and representatives of civil society organizations and a group of intellectuals, media and human rights activists.
"The Baghdad Regional Forum stressed the importance of supporting and enhancing the role of women to achieve community security and peace, and the need to provide full support for women in all areas and the development of institutional mechanisms for women in the Arab region to ensure the integration of gender in national policies, plans, strategies and public budgets to empower women. And its support for participation in the sustainable development process as far as it relates to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and UN Security Council Resolution 1325. "
For her part, the head of the committee, Haifa al-Amin, said that "the circumstances that the Iraqi women are going through require the urgent restructuring of the Ministry of Women in the current government."
The Secretary pointed out, "the negatives and positives of each of the different frameworks of the ministry and the Supreme Council for Women. And the removal of Iraqi women from political quotas and provide executive powers and tasks to improve the reality of women's work and activate their role in the Federal Council of Ministers."
