Pompeo accuses Iran of creating chaos by supporting Shi'ite militias in Iraq

[rtl]"The attack on Aramco is an attack on the global economy," US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, accusing Iran of creating chaos by backing Shiite militias in Iraq.[/rtl]
[rtl]"Iran is the aggressor and not a victim in any way," he said on Wednesday at a symposium titled "Union Against Iran's Nuclear".[/rtl]
[rtl]Pompeo accused Tehran of "creating chaos by supporting Assad, the Houthis in Yemen and Shiite militias in Iraq."[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that with the "start of the strategy of US President Donald Trump, against Tehran, we stopped the profits of Iran and increased pressure on the regime."[/rtl]
[rtl]He called on US officials to "put the interests of the people first."[/rtl]
[rtl]He noted that Washington has imposed "severe sanctions on the Iranian Revolutionary Guards," adding that "the world recognizes the seriousness of the United States."[/rtl]
[rtl]He hinted that "US pressure on Iran prompted them to begin attempts to sabotage the region."[/rtl]
[rtl]"Sanctions and international attitudes make Iran and its militias more isolated around the world," he said.[/rtl]
[rtl]He said that "Iran is lying, and that the allegations of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani about Tehran's defeat of terrorism is strange."[/rtl]
[rtl]Rouhani described as "miserable", stressing that "Tehran only responds to force."[/rtl]
[rtl]"A large number of countries have shown their readiness to confront Iran's threat to navigation and international security," Pompeo said.[/rtl]
