The National Union reveals its position on political moves to bring down the government

"The National Union stands by the legitimate demands of the people away from the tension and the use of violence against the demonstrators," said Ghayath al-Surji, a union leader.
He warned against the "exploitation of some political leaders and parties to turn on power in Iraq," stressing that "the National Union stands with Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, because it does not belong to any political party."
He pointed out that "the political forces came from Abdul-Mahdi, and what happened tensions came as a result of previous accumulations," pointing out that "the Union will support Abdul-Mahdi and provide him with support in order to achieve the wishes of the Iraqi people."
He stressed the importance of "giving the current government time to carry out reforms in the country, and then hold elections to bring about a change in power, as the [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/106806/%D8%A7%D8%B3%D9%82%D8%A7%D8%B7 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AD%D9%83%D9%88%D9%85%D8%A9]overthrow of the government[/url] at the present time is not in the interest of the people."
