Khazali: Barham Salih wanted to hand Iraq over to America
Shafaq News / The leader of the "Asaib Ahl al-Haq" movement, Qais Khazali, accused the President of the Republic, Barham Saleh, of trying to hand Iraq over to the United States of America on Thursday.
Khazali said in a televised speech today that "we witnessed, before a period of another breach of the constitution, by the one who is supposed to be the protector of the constitution, who is the President of the Republic, when he confronted the job of nominating the new candidate for prime minister and assigning him to him, despite the fact that the Iraqi constitution only allows him to appoint and nominate from the right of the largest bloc", in A reference to the commissioning of Adnan Al-Zorfi.
He added, "This violation by the President of the Republic was a dangerous step, and keeping quiet about it means losing the political right of the Shiites as the majority and they have the right to assume the presidency of the Council of Ministers," noting that "the Al-Fatah bloc led by Hadi al-Amiri had failed the plans of the President of the Republic."
Al-Khazali pointed out that "these violations caused the loss of a period of almost a full month of the life of the Iraqi state, and the people who need it the most to form a government with full powers to confront the Corona epidemic and economic conditions."
He noted that "this step could have led the President of the Republic to put the country in a cycle and endanger civil peace, as well as mortgage the political situation of Iraq and make it in the hands of the United States to control it whatever it wanted and however you want."
On the assignment of Al-Kazemi, Al-Khazali said that "the priority was to maintain the current government and grant it powers and declare a state of emergency in the country, but the political consensus and the national space had obtained the new candidate and we decided to go along with the consensus and accept it, but only with the condition of the obligation to remove foreign forces from Iraq."
