    Follow Iraq:
Today, Sunday, Minister of Planning Nouri Al-Dulaimi stressed the necessity of reducing 10% of the country's total annual expenditures on import and converting it into national production.
Al-Dulaimi said in a press statement that I followed Iraq, "The total value of the salaries of employees, retirees and social welfare exceeds fifty billion dollars annually, and its coverage depends on oil export revenues."
The minister added that "90% of the value of the salaries spent by the beneficiaries on imported goods, and 32% of them on food and beverages," noting that "this means an exit from 40 billion dollars annually from the state's spending abroad for import."
Al-Dulaimi continued, "It is necessary to work to transfer 10% of this spending annually in favor of local production in exchange for reducing import expenditures, and it must be the beginning of food and beverages, agriculture is the one that leads the wheel of development, and a sustainable solution by activating the role of the private sector."
