The governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Eidani, confirmed, on Monday, that the "rail link" with Kuwait will not take place until after the completion of the Faw port project.
Al-Eidani said in a statement seen by Al-Iqtisad News, on the sidelines of a series of official meetings he held with officials in the federal government in the capital, Baghdad, "There has been a lot recently among the visual and Iraqi community, as well as the media and various social networks on the issue of railways with neighboring Kuwait. ", Stressing that" there is nothing related to the railway link and what was raised by some is a conversation without knowing the specifics of the subject. "
He added that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi support the completion of the project of the Grand Faw port and the highway between the port and other governorates, as well as allocating part of the budget to complete the project."
Al-Eidani called on the people of Basra to "not approve the media statements issued by some regarding the issue of the railway connection," noting that "no railway connection will be completed until after the completion of the Faw port project and the rail link to the port."
