The Minister of Transport, Nasser Hussein Al-Shibli, arrived in Basra Governorate, today, Sunday, to tour the Iraqi port projects and see the progress of work in them.
Upon his arrival at Basra Airport, Al-Shibli held a press conference, during which he reviewed the most prominent transport projects in Iraqi ports and the stages of progress and completion of work in them.
He stressed the need to "follow up on the implementation of transport projects in the provinces, including Basra, to see the work and affairs of the formations affiliated with the ministry, such as maritime transport, ports and railways in the province."
He explained, "We will go to the port of Umm Qasr and to the port of Al-Faw to follow up the progress of work on the five projects and the stages of completion," stressing "the interest in the port of Al-Faw and the railway connection with Fishkhabour to prepare the Silk Road through the Iraqi dry canal."
For his part, the Director General of Iraq Ports said that "there is no change in the port contract or prejudice to the depths set by the Italian consultant, and everyone is invited to view it."
