The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced, on Sunday, that it has begun to close industrial projects that violate labor laws, stressing the intensification of its efforts to monitor those that use child labor.
The Director General of the Department of Labor and Vocational Training at the Ministry, Raed Jabbar Bahed, said in an interview with Al-Sabah newspaper, which was seen by Al-Eqtisad News, that “the ministry is working, by monitoring violations, to achieve transparency in the work of industrial projects, as well as seeking to include private sector workers, legally. Work and social security as a guarantee of their rights. ”
Bahed added, "The department is intensifying its efforts in order to monitor violating projects with regard to child labor, as the Child Labor Division has made 15 field visits during the past period, and has recorded 36 working events, who will be enrolled in training courses and accelerated education classes according to their desire."
He pointed out that there is coordination with the investment companies to provide the inspection committees with the names and information of all secondary companies contracting with the parent company, to be included in the retirement and social security laws, in addition to employing 50 percent of local workers in compliance with the laws issued in this regard, stressing that violators are referred to their instructions to the courts. Competent ”.
