    The Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed, on Sunday (March 21, 2021), that the Central Bank of Iraq will appeal the draft federal budget in the event that Parliament changes the exchange rate of the dollar.  
    And MP Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani had revealed earlier on Sunday that more than a third of the members of Parliament had asked to return the dollar price to what it was, and to publish the names of the signatures of 120 deputies demanding that. 
    According to the reporter of the Finance Committee, Ahmed Al-Saffar, in a statement reported by state television, and seen by  IQ NEWS , the committee wants to pass the 2021 budget, indicating that some blocs requested the addition of a paragraph stating: In the event that the region does not comply, the benefits will be cut.  
    Al-Saffar explained that the agreement with the region provides for the delivery of 250 thousand barrels at the price of (sumo) per day, while 210 thousand barrels will go to the cost of production, petrodollars and consumption.
    And the decision of the Finance Committee stated that the Central Bank will appeal the budget if Parliament changes the current exchange rate.
    The Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Muthanna Al-Samarrai, confirmed earlier on Sunday that his committee will work on approving the financial budget for the current year next week, and indicated that the budget "has nothing to do" with the exchange rate of the dinar against the dollar.
    The parliament was scheduled to present the draft fiscal budget bill for 2021 to vote last Friday, but the failure of the parliamentary blocs to agree on some of its paragraphs, especially with regard to the Kurdistan region’s share, prompted the Presidency of Parliament to postpone voting on it until next week.

    The Central Bank of Iraq and the Ministry of Finance approved a new exchange rate for the American dollar at 145 thousand Iraqi dinars, after it was 125 thousand dinars, amid popular and official criticism of this measure, at a time when Parliament and the Finance Committee vacated their responsibility to throw the ball in the court of the bank and the ministry because the decision is within their jurisdiction.
