    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

It seems that the Ministry of Electricity has begun to turn to one of the solutions developed by General Electric to solve the electricity crisis in Iraq, which is to convert the stations into “combined” stations, a method that makes the station produce twice the energy designed for it with the same amount of fuel used without change.
After carrying out this plan at the Nasiriyah station, Al-Kazemi opened the Nasiriyah complex station weeks ago, saying during its opening that it “produces more electrical energy than its counterparts, and at the same time preserves the environment by using the gases extracted from it that were previously wasted.”
He added: "In this stage, the station will provide 500 megawatts to the governorate and the national grid, and in the second phase of completing the station, 250 megawatts will be added by taking advantage of the gases generated from the current stage as a source of power generation instead of fuel."

Today, the Ministry of Electricity is working to conclude understandings with the American company “Stellar Energy” specialized in energy solutions and storage systems, where the Undersecretary for Production Affairs, Adel Karim, received the head of the American company, to review the reality of the current national system and agree on preparing joint work programs and calculating their estimated costs to enter the course installed in Mansouriya and Kirkuk stations, and the possibility of including them in the included projects.”

The ministry explained, “The company will be 100% ready to provide its services, and the project is to integrate and invest the heat of the turbines to enhance the power output during periods of high temperature and ambient relative humidity, while storing thermal energy as a thermal battery so that the stations can generate and store energy with thermal capacity to compensate for the energy needed during peak hours.” .

Combined cycle plants are one of the three solutions that General Electric has identified to get rid of the electricity crisis in Iraq, where the company earlier identified several qualified solutions to address the shortage of electric power, by converting power plants that operate today on the simple cycle to the combined cycle To enhance its production capacity by up to 50% without the need to use additional fuel or increase its emissions, setting the example of the Bismayah plant, which operates in a combined cycle with General Electric units, which is the largest and most efficient power plant today in Iraq.”
