The head of the Integrity Commission told Al-Sabah: We are the people’s eyes on the government and state institutions

The head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, described his body as the people’s eye on the government and all other institutions, noting that it preserves the people’s money and holds the government accountable when it makes mistakes.
Hanoun said, in an interview with “Al-Sabah,” during his participation in the Arab Forum to Strengthen Anti-Corruption Efforts: “Among the basics adopted by the Commission is partnership and cooperation with anti-corruption agencies in Arab countries, the first of which was the Republic of Egypt because of its long-established oversight bodies that have achieved great achievements.” Great, and gained accumulated capabilities and experience.” Hanoun added, “The Commission partners with the Egyptian Oversight Authority and the Egyptian Ministry of Justice on some points in combating corruption, recovering stolen funds, and following up on strategies through the memorandum of understanding signed last year, and we have begun implementing it to support capabilities and exchange experiences,” noting that “500 members of the Commission They started the first training course at the Egyptian Anti-Corruption Academy.” Judge Hanoun stated, “Iraq is preparing a six-year strategy for the years from 2025 to 2030 with new rules, based on additional foundations that were not included in the previous strategy, with the participation of the private sector, civil society, investigative journalism, and twinning with international organizations concerned with combating corruption, including the United Nations Development Program and the Narcotics Control Bureau.” "The United Nations Crime and Crime Commission is the main support for our strategy." Regarding the role of technology in combating corruption, he explained that “it has positive and negative aspects. Just as we use it to combat corruption through digital transformation and e-government, the corrupt put it at their service as well, and this is a dangerous aspect,” stressing the necessity of “moving towards developing rules and building new rules in administrative and financial transactions.” And protect it from corruption so that corrupt people are not able to use technology to steal public money and the people’s capabilities.”
For his part, Director General of Planning and Follow-up at the Integrity Commission, Manal Abdul Hadi Al-Rubaie, told Al-Sabah, “Iraq submitted a draft resolution to establish a council of heads of rescue agencies concerned with integrity and anti-corruption in the States Parties,” stressing that “Iraq has pioneering experience in the field of National strategies in preparation, implementation, and commitment to decisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the Arab Convention against Corruption, and Law No. 35 of 2007.” Al-Rubaie added that she “presented the project during her lecture at the Arab Forum, Iraq’s experience in combating corruption,” indicating that it is “a good and rich experience, not a little, and our participation is also important because we need international cooperation to present draft laws before the Arab League concerned with implementing the Arab Convention against Corruption.”
