    Advisor to the Prime Minister for Transport Affairs, Nasser Al-Assadi, confirmed on Sunday that the Baghdad Metro and Najaf-Karbala train projects will be referred to reputable companies, and the decision is near. While he clarified the terms of the competition, he indicated that whoever applied to implement the two projects will present two technical and financial offers, pointing out at the same time that there are conflicts between them. On the Baghdad Metro route and will not affect current traffic
    Al-Asadi said, in a statement reported by the official news agency and seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the Baghdad metro and Najaf-Karbala train projects will be referred to professional and reputable companies specialized in train systems,” indicating that “the advanced companies are very interested in learning the details of the technologies required to be presented.” The technical and financial evaluations of the offers that will be submitted were presented.

    He added, "The two projects were divided into paragraphs to cover design, systems, communications, services, and everything related to the details of presenting the projects, as the picture has become clear, and within the next 15 days there will be a presentation, analysis, and consulting work to choose the best and most appropriate companies for this task."

    He pointed out that "the referral of projects will be according to specifications and conditions, as each consortium of companies wishing to obtain the two projects will submit two technical and financial offers, where the first will explain the design mechanism, the type of systems used, and the global technology for operating trains. As for the financial offer, the estimated cost of the project and the financial revenues generated from the project for Iraq will be determined." ".

    Al-Asadi continued, “Iraq has entered the stage of deciding which companies will implement these projects, and the best one will be determined to implement them,” explaining that “the Baghdad Metro project will cover 85 percent of the capital, Baghdad, with a length of 148 km, where a global tender has been proposed for implementation, as a group of alliances have come forward to Iraq to implement the project and now.” We are in the process of finalizing the pricing and appropriate selection stage.”

    Regarding the problems of conflicts facing the project, Al-Asadi explained that “there are no conflicts in the route of the Baghdad Metro,” pointing out that “there is great cooperation between all ministries to solve the problems of conflicts.”

    He pointed out that “there are conflicts that are addressed engineering-wise and others that do not affect the implementation of the projects.” Explaining that “open, uncomplicated places were chosen for the project’s path that do not affect traffic, citizens’ housing, commercial relations within the city, or the presence of property ownership.” 

    Regarding the time frames for implementing the project, Al-Asadi confirmed that “a time limit has been set for implementing the project, provided that it does not exceed 4.” Years," pointing out that "Iraq adopts 100% thoughtful timetables, and every step implemented in the project will be defined by a beginning and an end, especially since the invited companies are companies known for not procrastinating or delaying the implementation of projects."
