    Today, Monday, the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed the need to protect the sobriety of academic education and scientific independence .
    And the media office of the President of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "President Saleh received, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Nabil Kazem Abdel Sahib."
    The President of the Republic stressed the need to protect the sobriety of academic education and the scientific independence of universities, support and expand various scientific and cultural specializations in accordance with the developments of the times, pay attention to the needs of professors and students and overcome obstacles and problems in front of them.
    He added, "Iraqi universities have a good reputation in international forums, despite the difficulties they faced in previous periods," calling for "strengthening cooperation with international universities and benefiting from international experiences, in order for Iraqi universities to be in the ranks of their peers in the countries of the world."
    For his part, the Minister of Education reviewed the work progress of the ministry, its future plans, and the challenges facing the higher education sector in the country.
