ELECTRICITY TALKS ABOUT ELECTRONIC COLLECTION: PRICES WILL NOT RISE

Monday, November 1, 2021 10:26 PM

Baghdad/National News Center
Today, Monday, the Ministry of Electricity commented on its electronic collection project, stressing that there will be no increase in prices.
Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Abadi said in a television interview, followed by the National News Center: "There will be a complete survey of the electrical network and the installation of smart meters, starting with the consumer, to reduce and rationalize consumption."
He added, "We will thus submit a sober study to the Council of Ministers, and it will be applied experimentally in elected regions," stressing that "92% of the pricing will be with the support of the government and there will be no increase in prices."
And he indicated that “the project aims to establish a respectable service at subsidized prices, and its goal is to transform irregular consumers in slums and other areas into regular ones,” noting that “the collection list includes tables on the amount of consumption, cost, government support and other details.”
Al-Abadi pointed out that “smart measures prevent wastage, and the Consumer Center feels that there is an excess, and the reduction of losses and abuses has been achieved,” stressing that “there is excessive consumption even during the day and in one housing unit.”
