    Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Electricity revealed the conduct of two electronic collection experiments in the capital, Baghdad, while confirming the existence of a movement and a study of electronic transfer to control waste and maximize collection revenues.
    Ministry spokesman Ahmed Moussa said, in a statement to the official agency, that "the Ministry of Electricity has taken a number of measures to end the issue of abuses on the national network and reduce losses, including dealing with irregular subscribers as consumers, providing them with the service by supporting them with distribution networks and installing meters in order to obtain Collection fees," pointing out that "dealing with this category as contributors contradicts the basic design of cities, according to municipal departments and the Municipality of Baghdad."
    He added, "The ministry has prepared strategic plans, including a study to proceed with electronic transformation projects and electronic collection projects. It was presented for extensive discussion with its staff, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and the Council of Ministers," noting that "the ministry worked with two experiments for electronic collection in Baghdad: the first on the Rusafa side was represented by the Bismayah complex." The second is on the Karkh side, represented by the university district.
    He pointed out that "the ministry also experimented with electronic readings in some cities of the holy Karbala governorate, including the cities of visitors, as an experiment to proceed with electronic transformation projects in all governorates," stressing that "the cabinet authorized the Ministry of Electricity to sign a contract with consulting companies concerned with smart grid projects."
    He continued, "The electronic transformation will contribute to transforming irregular subscribers into consumers, in addition to rehabilitating distribution networks and maximizing collection resources."
