The Council of Ministers, in its regular session, which was held, yesterday, Tuesday, headed by Parliament Speaker Mustafa Al-Kazemi, authorized the Minister of Planning the power to bridge the deficit in the Ministry of Electricity’s budget and bottlenecks in ministries and other agencies through transfers.

The session witnessed, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Media Office, “hosting the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, as he reviewed the epidemiological report, the measures taken to confront the Corona pandemic, and the developments in the work of the Committee to Strengthen Government Actions in the areas of prevention and health awareness control; to limit the spread of the virus.”

The agent stressed, “the increase in vaccination doses and the citizens’ demand for vaccination outlets; Which reflected positively on the daily situation of injuries.”

The Council decided that the Ministry of Finance would allocate the equivalent of $200,000, or (300 million dinars) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the emergency reserve for the fiscal year 2021; To spend it on Iraqis stranded in Belarus, Lithuania and Poland and voluntarily return them to Iraq.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Oil, the Council of Ministers authorized the Iraqi National Oil Company to negotiate directly with the American company Chevron to develop oil fields in Dhi Qar Governorate, through the implementation of the Nasiriyah province project for oil and gas production, which includes the development of four exploration blocks in the province.

According to the statement, this project constitutes an important addition that contributes to strengthening and sustaining national production, in support of the national economy and sustainable development projects targeted by the government and the ministry. A thousand barrels of crude oil per day within seven years of starting the works, and may be followed later by the establishment of solar energy projects to produce electricity. It is hoped that these projects will contribute to strengthening and sustaining national production, upgrading and developing infrastructure, and increasing development opportunities for private sector companies in the governorate, as well as providing job opportunities.
