Today, Friday, the Prime Minister and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, chaired an emergency meeting of the security and military leaders at the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command; To discuss the attack carried out by ISIS in Al-Azim district, Diyala Governorate, which resulted in 11 casualties, including an officer.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Kazemi offered his condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, asking God Almighty to have mercy on the martyrs with his vast mercy, and inspire their families patience and solace, and vowed to avenge their blood through military operations to pursue the remnants of ISIS terrorist and overthrow its leaders, citing the military operations carried out by Iraqi forces earlier. In the Taji area, a number of leaders of ISIS terrorist gangs were killed.
Al-Kazemi said, according to a statement by his office and received by the news agency Noon, that "ISIS remnants have broken its back, and it is committing crimes randomly after it lost all its presence on the ground, and its burrows fell one after another under the feet of our armed forces."
During the meeting, the preliminary results of the investigations that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces had directed to conduct immediately after the incident were reviewed.
Al-Kazemi stressed the "need that such security breaches should not be repeated," directing the intelligence and national security agencies to double the intelligence effort, and directed his sovereignty to strengthen security coordination between all military and security agencies.
During the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces stressed the "initiation of a reassessment of the leaders of the security and military services in Diyala Governorate, and the formation of inspection committees to follow up on the implementation of the directives issued by his sovereignty regarding military plans and the completion of military requirements."
And he vowed to hold all the negligent people accountable, regardless of their position and rank, in light of the final results of the investigations, stressing that "the blood of Iraqis and the blood of our youth is not cheap, and our responsibility is to protect Iraqi blood and enhance the country's security and stability."
The meeting witnessed a review of security developments throughout the country and on the borders, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed to double the security effort on the Iraqi-Syrian borders, after the events in the Syrian prison of Hasaka.
