    Yesterday, the House of Representatives postponed a session that was scheduled to be devoted to electing a new president of the republic, during which competition intensified between the candidates of the two main Kurdish parties, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party. Amid local and international anticipation, a source told (Al-Zaman) yesterday (that the dome of Parliament witnessed the presence of only 58 members representing the independents, in addition to the presence of the Presidency, including the First Deputy Hakim Al-Zamili, who was allowed by the head of the Sadrist movement to attend the session, while he asked the rest of the members of the bloc. The observers promised the attendance of the independents, the session was a very healthy phenomenon, and they expected its gradual growth in the future so that the weight of the independents would increase and it would not be possible to ignore them and the weight of the egg.The source added that (yesterday's session turned into a deliberative debate), meaning that there was no vote to elect the president out of 25 As a candidate for the position, the Federal Supreme Court suspended the nomination of Hoshyar Zebari by a wilaya order on Sunday.

    And the coordinating framework announced its position on attending Monday's session. A statement stated that (based on a clear and accurate vision of what the political reality is going through in terms of obstruction resulting from the chaos produced by the last elections, the position of the framework and its allies was clear that the presidential election session should not be held before the completion of the understandings).

    The statement added, "Therefore, our position remains the same, and we welcome the positions of the forces that took the same decision as ours regarding Monday's session." And the coordinating framework called for (more consultations to reach realistic and acceptable solutions and to complete all constitutional obligations), which is also what the rest of the tripartite alliance agreed upon.

    The Kurdistan Democratic Party said in a statement that (for the requirements of the public interest and with the aim of completing consultations and in continuation of the ongoing dialogues between the political blocs, we decided not to attend the parliament session on Monday).

    And she said in a statement yesterday that (the Federal Supreme Court had clarified its opinion on this issue since 2010 and explained the constitutional articles in this regard, including that the second paragraph of Article 72 stipulated that the President of the Republic continue to exercise his duties until after the elections, provided that a new president is elected Within 30 days from the date of Parliament convening, and this period is organizational and not the period for the election of a new president to fall, and therefore the Presidency Council, which was interpreted by the Federal Court as the president, continues to exercise the functions of the President of the Republic until a new president is chosen, meaning that the president remains in office until a president is chosen else).

    According to observers, the main bloc will have two options: the first is to reach a consensus formula to choose a president of the republic, which is an unlikely option in light of the difficulty of obtaining 220 votes. According to Article 24 of the House of Representatives’ internal system, achieving a quorum is a prerequisite for holding the session, and in the event that it is not achieved, the Speaker of the House must postpone it and set another date for its convening, which means that the option to postpone is more likely, but setting the date is not possible given the nature of the current complications that transform the session. Without agreement on the three presidencies. That is, the post of the President of Iraq is postponed until further notice.
