Turkey intends to withdraw a few hundred of its forces deployed in the "de-escalation" zone in northwestern Syria, and transfer them to northern Iraq, to participate in military operations against the Kurdistan Workers' Party.
And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed that the Turkish forces deployed in the “de-escalation” zone in northwestern Syria intend to withdraw 400 of their fighters deployed in the region, to send them to northern Iraq, with the aim of fighting PKK members and supporting the forces participating in Operations going on there.
Last year, the Turkish army launched air and ground operations targeting PKK positions in northern Iraq, in which elements of the Special Forces are also participating. Operations are still continuing with the aim of eliminating security threats and the presence of the "Kurdistan Workers" on the country's southern borders, according to what Ankara announced.
The observatory confirmed that 400 Turkish soldiers have completed their preparations to leave the “de-escalation” zone, as a first batch that may be followed by other batches that will come out later. The number of Turkish soldiers deployed within the "de-escalation" zone in northwestern Syria is about 13,500, distributed over more than 60 military points in Idlib and the countryside of Aleppo, Hama and Latakia.
These news came at a time when the regime forces renewed their targeting with artillery and rocket-propelled grenades, areas in Benin, outskirts of Al-Bara and Felifel within Jabal Al-Zawiya in the southern countryside of Idlib, and contact points with the armed opposition factions in Al-Ghab Plain in the northwestern Hama countryside.
At the same time, over the past three days, Turkish forces and the Syrian National Army factions loyal to Ankara have escalated their bombardment on the countryside of Tal Tamr, north of Hasaka, which is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), causing damage to a network. Electricity, power outages in the area.
The "National Army" factions carried out intense artillery shelling on the villages of Dardara, Tal Shanan and Tal Juma'a in the Tal Tamr countryside, north of Hasaka, without information about casualties. The Observatory reported that a Turkish drone targeted a military vehicle in the vicinity of Hoshan village, west of Ain Issa, in the northern countryside of Raqqa, which resulted in material damage to the target site, and the Turkish forces bombed the village with artillery.
