[ltr]sadrist leader moqtada sadr announced thursday evening his withdrawal from negotiations to elect the president and form the next government, allowing for a coordination framework to negotiate with political forces.[/ltr]
[ltr]"god bless me that i can be with me the biggest winning bloc in the elections, but an unprecedented victory, and then we made the bloc or the largest shiite alliance, and then i have to be the first to succeed in forming the largest national bloc (saving the homeland) and nominating a prime minister acceptable to everyone, and i will not give up on that, thank god, the lord of the worlds," sadr said in a tweet, followed by shafaq news.[/ltr]
[ltr]"these alliances have been disturbed a lot, they have obstructed and continue to obstruct, and in order for iraq not to remain without a government, the security, economic, service and other conditions will deteriorate, here i am giving (the disabled third) an opportunity to negotiate with all blocs without exception to form a national majority government, without the sadrist bloc, from the first day in ramadan to the ninth of the month of shual al-mu'am," he said.[/ltr]
[ltr]"to that day, i ask you to pray and accept the prayers, and the loved ones in the pectoral mass should not interfere with this, either positively or negatively," sadr said.[/ltr]
[ltr]on wednesday, the iraqi parliament failed for the third time in a row to hold a session to elect a new president.[/ltr]
[ltr]parliament has already held two sessions, one after the election of the presidency of the house of representatives on february 7th, and the other on march 26, both of which failed to achieve a quorum because of the intense disagreement between the tripartite alliance (sadrist bloc, kurdistan democratic party, sovereignty alliance) and the coordination framework comprising shiite political forces.[/ltr]
[ltr]the election of the president of al-jahouria requires a legal quorum in which the presence of deputies constitutes two thirds of their number, or more than 220 of the 329 deputies, which has not been achieved because of the boycott of the coordination framework, which represents prominent shiite parties, such as the state of law bloc and the umbrella fatah alliance under which pro-iranian popular mobilization factions are affiliated.[/ltr]
[ltr]following the failure of the quorum at wednesday's session, the senior leader of the coordination framework, the leader of the state of law coalition nouri al-maliki, said in a tweet, followed by the shafaq news agency, "the alliance of the coordination framework and its allies confirmed the strength of the guarantor third, which proved today to prevent a session prepared by the framework is dangerous."[/ltr]
[ltr]"we prepared an initiative paper to find a solution to the bottleneck situation after it was confirmed that the tripartite alliance had not come up with the initiative to find realistic solutions that would ensure the political process from collapse," he said.[/ltr]
[ltr]"we believe that the path of breaking the will and excluding other parties will not lead to the stability of iraq, as we have told the political forces, especially the tripartite alliance, that our hearts are open to finding a solution to get out of the political blockage," fatah alliance leader hadi al-ameri said wednesday, speaking to reporters after a meeting in his office of the forces to boycott the parliamentary session.[/ltr]
[ltr]but the response of sadrist leader moqtada al-sadr, on wednesday, was decisive in his position on the failure of the quorum of the session, where he said in a tweet, followed by the shafaq news, addressing the coordination framework "i will not agree with you, consensus means the end of the country, not consensus in all its forms."[/ltr]
[ltr]"what you call political blockage is easier than agreeing with you and better than sharing the cake with you, there is no good in a consensus government," he said, asking "how will you agree with the blocs as you fight against all the components and all the partners you are trying to win for your own people."[/ltr]
[ltr]following sadr's tweet, sadrist mp haidar al-haddad al-khafaji warned the shiite coordination framework not to continue political maneuvers aimed at disrupting the formation of the next iraqi government.[/ltr]
[ltr]"what i would like to say is that while the other side has exhausted all its political weapons in disrupting the formation of a government that is not based on quotas, the tripartite alliance has not yet begun to use its political and legal weapons, because sadr is still trying to save the people from their plight with minimal antagonism with the other," he said in a facebook post, followed by the shafq news.[/ltr]
