    [size=45]The Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism in the Kurdistan Region announced, on Friday, its approval to spend nearly five billion Iraqi dinars from its regular budget allocated by the Council of Ministers to address the problem of water shortage in Erbil.[/size]
    [size=45]The ministry said in a statement today, that it was decided to spend four billion and 707 million dinars to prepare to confront the water problem in Erbil and its surrounding areas.[/size]
    [size=45]The statement also indicated that allocating this financial amount with the aim of implementing many water projects in Erbil, such as extending power lines to wells, providing horizontal pumps within the city of Erbil, maintaining generators for wells, purchasing the necessary equipment for the third excretion water project, and renting tankers to distribute water in Erbil city and its suburbs.[/size]
    [size=45]This comes at a time when the regional government decided in mid-April to establish a joint operations room between the Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism, the Ministry of Electricity, and the Erbil Governorate, which has full powers to review problems and take urgent decisions to solve any problem facing water, as well as issuing other decisions.     [size=45]It was decided to drill 138 drinking water wells in the city of Erbil and its suburbs.[/size]
    [size=45]Providing electricity for new wells that will be drilled.[/size]
    [size=45]Providing 24-hour electricity for all wells.[/size]
    [size=45]Allocate a budget for emergency situations.[/size]
    [size=45]Launching a campaign to remove abuses on the water and electricity networks.[/size]
    [size=45]Taking other measures in response to water shortages.[/size]
    [size=45]The Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism, the Ministry of Electricity, and the Erbil Governorate, monitor as a team through the joint operations room the problem of water shortage in the city of Erbil and find an urgent solution to it.[/size]
    [size=45]In early April, the Kurdistan Regional Government allocated more than 7 billion dinars to solve the drinking water problem in Erbil.[/size]
    [size=45]And the regional government said in a statement, that by order of Masrour Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, more than 7.5 billion dinars have been allocated to solve the problem of drinking water for homes.[/size]
    [size=45]The statement indicated that the money was also allocated to dig new wells for drinking water in Erbil governorate and its suburbs during the summer season of this year.[/size]
