On Sunday afternoon, 6-12-2022, the Iraqi Communist Party and the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front held a joint meeting via the electronic circuit, and they discussed the latest political developments in the region, at the Iraqi and Palestinian levels, and the bilateral relations between the two parties.
Comrade Raed Fahmy, Secretary of the Central Committee, spoke at the beginning of the meeting about the party's position that firmly supports the struggle of the Palestinian people to end the Israeli occupation, their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent national state on the land of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.
Fahmy gave a presentation on the latest developments in the political situation in Iraq, noting that "the challenges facing our country are many, both internally and externally."
Comrade Raed Fahmy stressed the possibility of Iraq playing a greater role on the Arab level and the Palestinian cause and addressing the humiliating normalization with Israel, and that this depends on getting rid of the quota system, corruption and political sectarianism, and building a state of citizenship, a civil and democratic one. It is the condition for the completion of Iraq's independence and national sovereignty, the end of foreign interference and the submission of influential forces to the external factor.
In this context, the Secretary of the Central Committee of the party spoke about the efforts made to unify the work of civil, democratic and protest forces in order to achieve the slogan of comprehensive change.
In turn, comrade Dr. Ahmed Majdalani, Secretary-General of the Popular Struggle Front, expressed his pride in the Iraqi position in support of the Palestinian cause, and gave a presentation on the latest political, economic and security developments in Palestine.
He said that the United States is seeking to form an international coalition in the region led by Israel under the pretext of confronting Iran and imposing its hegemony over the region, and what happened at the summit that brought together some Arab foreign ministers and Israel recently represents the beginning of this trend.
Comrade Majdalani added that the United States is not seeking a two-state solution, and is obstructing any international effort to get the situation out of the stalemate, and it is totally biased towards Israel.
He stressed that the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front is committed to the peace process, the two-state solution, the decisions of international legitimacy and international law. On the other hand, there is an extremist right-wing government that kills our Palestinian people on a daily basis, and the settlement process continues. He considered that the best option is to unite the efforts of the national forces in Palestine, and the continuation of the option of popular resistance.
Majdalani added that the Arab situation is witnessing disintegration, fragmentation and involvement in the process of normalization. This weakens the Palestinian position.
The comrade spoke about the Front's endeavor to perpetuate the dialogue with the Palestinian national forces, to end the internal division, and that there is work to form a front consisting of the national democratic and progressive forces in the Arab countries to oppose the apartheid regime in the occupied territories and the Palestinian interior.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and continue consultation and coordination.
The meeting was attended by comrade Raed Fahmy, deputy party secretary, comrade Bassam Mohi, two members of the Political Bureau, comrade Yasser Al-Salem and Hussain Al-Najjar, and member of the Central Committee, comrade Salim Ali.
While the delegation of the Popular Struggle Front also included comrades Mahmoud Alloush, Mona Namoura, Murad Harfouche and Jamal Khalil, members of the Political Bureau, and Hosni Shilo and Walid Taleb, members of the Central Committee.
