Parliamentary: The law banning normalization against Al-Kazemi must be activated
Shafaq News/ Member of the Iraqi Parliament, Zahra Al-Bajari, condemned on Saturday the attendance of caretaker Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi at the Jeddah summit, which included "the countries of normalization and America, with the blessing of Israel."
Al-Bajari said in a statement today, "Attending such meetings and summits is tantamount to accepting all its decisions, and therefore tacit recognition of the Zionist entity and normalization with it, and this act is high treason for which Iraqi law will be held accountable and criminalized."
And she added, "Al-Kazemi's attendance at such a summit aims to form an international coalition that destabilizes the security of the region and brings Iraq into an axis at the expense of neighboring and friendly Islamic countries, and in the midst of future wars, it cannot be accepted in any way, and that silence about it is a disgrace."
Al-Bajari, the representative of the Shiite coordination framework, also indicated that “the Islamic resistance factions in Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Yemen and Palestine were able to move the confrontation and turn the equation against the usurping Zionist entity and its diabolical expansionist plans. This is why Saudi Arabia and the printing countries sought to hold such a malicious summit.”
The member of the House of Representatives concluded her statement by saying, "The law prohibiting normalization must be activated against Al-Kazemi and his accompanying delegation, because normalization is a betrayal of Islam, the homeland and the people."
On May 26, 2022, the Iraqi parliament voted on a law criminalizing normalization with Israel in a festive atmosphere, which provoked different reactions internally, regionally and internationally between supporters of the law and those who oppose it.
The new law stipulates penalties, including life or temporary imprisonment, and aims, according to its first article, to "prevent the establishment of diplomatic, political, military, economic, cultural, or any other form of relations with the occupying Zionist entity."
Article 201 of the Iraqi Penal Code stipulates that anyone who promotes the principles of Zionism, including Freemasonry, or affiliates with any of its institutions, or helps them financially or morally, or works in any way to achieve its purposes, shall be punished with death.
Iraq does not establish any relations with Israel, and the government and the majority of political forces reject normalization with it.
Out of 22 Arab countries, 6 countries, namely Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan, have declared relations with Israel.
Yesterday, Friday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi arrived in Saudi Arabia to participate in the Jeddah summit.
US President Joe Biden, next Friday, from visiting Israel and the Palestinian territories, participated in the summit, in addition to Kuwaiti Crown Prince Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister and Representative of the Sultan of Oman.
The King of Bahrain, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Jordan, King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also participated.
