Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed today, Tuesday (November 26, 2024), Iraq's desire to establish a mechanism that brings mutual benefit to the two countries.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "Al-Sudani received today, Tuesday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and his accompanying delegation, which included Energy Minister Sergei Tsivlev, Russian Special Presidential Envoy to the Middle East and North Africa Mikhail Bogdanov, and First Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin."
He added, "During the meeting, bilateral relations and ways to develop and strengthen them in all fields were discussed, especially in the field of energy, artificial intelligence applications and digital cooperation, and the importance of these historical relations was emphasized, with the advent of the eightieth anniversary of the launch of Iraqi-Russian relations."
The statement continued, "Al-Sudani stressed Iraq's desire to establish a mechanism through which the relationship with the Russian Federation is developed, in a way that brings mutual benefit and achieves common interests."
For his part, Novak conveyed to Al-Sudani "the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his confirmation of his country's commitment to cooperation with Iraq in light of the outcomes of Al-Sudani's visit to Moscow in October of last year, and the understandings within the framework of the interests of the two friendly peoples."
