The political scene in Iraq is witnessing intense movement to push the file of amending the salary scale to the discussion table in the next session of the House of Representatives.
These efforts come amid increasing demands from employees to improve their living conditions and achieve justice in the distribution of salaries, at a time when controversy is escalating over the feasibility of the amendments and their effects on the national economy.
Economic expert Taha Al-Janabi believes that “including the salary scale amendment in the next session of the House of Representatives is possible to achieve, but it requires broad political consensus and a careful review of its financial impacts.”
He explained that "any amendment must take into account social justice without harming economic stability or increasing the burden on the general budget."
He added, "The success of this file depends on the government's ability to present a formula that achieves a balance between employees' rights and the state's financial capabilities."
For his part, MP Kazem Al-Fayyadh confirmed that there is a movement to include the salary scale in the next session.
Al-Fayadh said, “The salary scale law for Iraqi state employees is very important because it will address complex files that have accumulated over many years in terms of financial differences and entitlements.”
He added, "There is a parliamentary movement to include the law in the next session of the House of Representatives by submitting a request with this content in order to proceed with a very important law."
He pointed out that "the law, which is still under study by the government, we hope to resolve it and speed up the pace of procedures in order to resolve it in the near future."
It is noteworthy that the salary scale law in Iraqi state institutions will work to unify them and place them in specific contexts in terms of relying on certificates and years of service to create justice.
