    [size=45]Yesterday, Sunday, Minister of Water Resources Aoun Diab set the priorities for work in the next stage, while stressing the need to address the penetration of the salt tongue and the drainage networks of waterways that flow into the Shatt al-Arab. For his part, Minister of Agriculture Abbas Jabr Al-Alawi stressed the support of farmers and poultry producers to increase local production.[/size]
    [size=45]The Ministry of Water Resources said in a statement received by Al-Mada that "the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab Abdullah, held a technical meeting, after receiving his duties at the ministry's headquarters, in the presence of the advanced owners of the ministry."[/size]
    [size=45]Diab stressed that "the priorities of the ministry's work in the next stage are to give utmost importance to the Basra Governorate by providing water in good quality and quantity, treating the penetration of the salt tongue, and inviting sober companies to submit their proposals regarding the establishment of the blocking dam in Basra Governorate."[/size]
    [size=45]He pointed out, "the need to treat the drainage networks of the waterways that flow into the Shatt al-Arab and to complete the completion of all projects of the lagging ministry in the governorate."[/size]
    [size=45]Diab stressed, "attention to the fair and equitable distribution of water to all sectors, especially the agricultural sector, by meeting the needs of the winter agricultural season and according to the scientific plan established in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and diligent work to improve the situation of water imports and adherence to the scientific plans set by the ministry." He noted, "the importance of adhering to the outputs of the strategic study and considering it the roadmap for the ministry's work and working to update it to keep pace with the changes taking place in the climate with the immediate and future serious and rapid move towards neighboring countries to obtain the country's share of water in accordance with international conventions." In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture stated in a statement received by (Al-Mada), that “Minister Abbas Jabr Al-Alawi took over yesterday his duties as Minister of Agriculture at the Ministry’s headquarters from former Minister Muhammad Al-Khafaji,” adding that “Al-Alawi extended his thanks and appreciation to the former minister for the efforts he made during his consultative period.” “.[/size]
    [size=45]The statement indicated that "Minister Abbas Jabr Al-Olaywi, as soon as he assumed his duties, held a meeting with agents, advisors and general managers, who offered congratulations and blessings to the minister on the occasion of his assumption of the duties of his position."[/size]
