    Informed sources revealed that China, the first partner of the oil marketing company "SOMO", has purchased more than one million barrels of oil in the Kurdistan region during the current month, for the first time.
    The sources told "Al-Iqtisad News", that "China has bought more than 1.077 million barrels from the Kurdistan region, from the beginning of this month until the 16th."
    She added, "China is buying oil from the Kurdistan region for the first time, after it used to buy oil from the central government only," explaining that "China has so far bought 20.5 million barrels from SOMO."
    There are major differences between Baghdad and Erbil over the export of oil, as the Kurdistan region exports oil independently, away from Baghdad.
    The oil expert, Ihsan al-Attar, said on Friday, November 11, 2022, that the Kurdistan region has included articles in the constitution that allow it to export oil and manage oil fields "without the supervision and interference of Baghdad."
    Al-Attar added, in an interview with Al-Iqtisad News, that "the materials include that the new fields are under the control of the region, while the old fields are under the control of Baghdad."
    And he continued, "The solution to the problem of oil and gas in Iraq is to amend the constitution, and the oil must be owned by the Iraqi people and managed by the federal government, and then distribute the financial revenues to the provinces and the region according to the proportion of the population."
