On Wednesday, the Iraqi ambassador to Kuwait, Al-Manhal Al-Safi, announced the extension of the Council of Ministers, exempting Gulf nationals from entry visas for an additional month.
The Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Rai, quoted Al-Safi as saying, "The cabinet decided to extend the facilities for entering Iraq for Gulf nationals for an additional month, after the facilities were supposed to end at midnight last night."
Last month, Kuwaiti media reported that Kuwait's ports and security authorities were mobilizing to facilitate the entry of its citizens and Gulf nationals into Iraq "without a prior visa."
And in mid-January, the governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Eidani, announced the continuation of free entry for Gulf nationals to Iraq, even after the end of the Arab Gulf Championship.
Earlier, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani said, "The facilities that accompanied the tournament on the borders will continue beyond."
