Yesterday, Sunday, Oil Minister Hayan Abdel-Ghani and Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Haitham Al-Ghais, stressed the importance of the producing countries' commitment to the production cut agreement.
And the spokesman for the Ministry of Oil, Assem Jihad, said, in a statement, that “the Minister of Oil received the Secretary-General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), noting that” during the meeting, the great role played by “OPEC” and OPEC Plus “in the stability of global markets was emphasized. And the importance of the producing countries’ commitment to the agreement to reduce production and to achieve a balance between supply and demand.
Abdul-Ghani expressed to OPEC Secretary General, according to the statement, "Iraq's support for the goals and efforts of the organization, and work to strengthen its role in stabilizing global oil markets."
In turn, Al-Ghais expressed his happiness to “visit Iraq and meet with the brothers in the Ministry of Oil and officials in the government,” praising “Iraq’s role in the organization and in the global oil market as the second producer among the countries of the organization, as well as the historical role of Iraq in establishing the organization in Baghdad in 1960.” .
