The National Center for Packaging of the Industrial Research and Development Authority, one of the formations of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, organized a training course entitled (Using environmentally friendly materials that are resistant to bacteria and fungi in textile applications) in the presence of a number of the authority’s employees.
During the course in which the researcher Dina Abdel-Rahim lectured, and it lasted for five days, a number of environmentally friendly materials were reviewed and defined as materials used in the production of products that do not harm the environment and do not cause deterioration of the natural balance and do not contain toxic chemicals and that environmentally friendly products are considered natural textiles or Animal, plant, or wood products that contain the potential for natural degradation or biodegradation and that save energy or consume the least amount of it, and these materials were defined as those products that were designed and manufactured according to a set of standards that aim to protect the environment and reduce the depletion of resources.
The researcher added that textiles and natural fibers are particularly vulnerable to bacterial attack because they are easy to digest by bacteria and fungi, but synthetic fibers are not completely resistant because they may contain some nutrients that may be nourishing to microbes. Textiles are also vulnerable to microbial attacks during the manufacturing process, especially if the goods are left for a long time. conditions suitable for microbial growth.
