Iraq finishes its preparations for the pilgrims

Iraq is preparing to host the allotted number of pilgrims to the Holy House of God. And while Iraq's share reaches 23,000 pilgrims to the Holy Land, Parliament indicates that the Corona pandemic and the absence of a general census approved globally affected Iraq's clear share of the percentage of pilgrims.
A member of the Parliamentary Endowments and Religious Affairs Committee, Muhammad al-Sayhoud, said in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "Iraq does not take its due from the numbers of pilgrims compared to its souls in general," noting that "the failure to conduct a population census accredited by the United Nations prevented that."
Al-Saihoud added, "There is a real problem with the numbers of pilgrims who did not perform the ritual during the years in which the Corona virus spread," noting that "their numbers exceeded 64,000 pilgrims."
He added, "About 33,000 pilgrims will perform the ritual this year, and the remaining numbers will remain for the coming years to accommodate all those registered."
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Hajj and Umrah Authority, Sharif Joulaq, said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "Iraq's share this year of pilgrims exceeded 33,000 pilgrims, including the Kurdistan region, and 15% of the families of the martyrs."
Goulak explained that "this year's pilgrims were among the applicants during the years 2021 and 2022, as well as part of the current year's pilgrims, a plan that the authority will adopt annually," warning against "resorting to the so-called commercial pilgrimage, as there are those who try to deceive citizens with these labels." On the dates of the recruitment, he said: "The Hajj Authority delegation will leave for the Holy Land on the seventh of Dhul-Qi'dah, and the first meal of Iraqi pilgrims will be airlifted on the tenth of it, while the first land convoys of pilgrims will be on the fourteenth of Dhul-Qi'dah."
As for the spokesman for the Joint Operations Command, Major General Tahsin Al-Khafaji, he confirmed to Al-Sabah, "The start of a plan to secure the pilgrims by land by intensifying intelligence efforts and securing desert areas through preemptive military operations."
Al-Khafaji indicated, "The operations secured the route that the land pilgrimage convoys will take, and the security forces will accompany these convoys until they enter Saudi territory."
