[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The newspapers issued in Baghdad today, Thursday, the twenty-second of June, followed the water crisis, the problem of drought, the increase in the phenomenon of desertification, migration from the countryside, and the political dimensions of not closing the displacement file.
On the problem of drought, Al-Zawra newspaper, published by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, referred to the warning of the Parliamentary Agriculture and Water Committee of the drying up of rivers and marshes, the deterioration of agriculture, the increase in desertification, and the increase in migration from the countryside to the city due to water scarcity.
It quoted the head of the committee, Faleh Khazali, as saying: "There is a major water crisis that will lead to serious repercussions due to Turkey's intention to cut off water from Iraq," calling on the government to use the economic card against Turkey , at a time when the volume of trade exchange with it is estimated to be more than 24 billion. dollars annually.
Al-Khazali added, "We were keen to provide solutions to avoid Iraq's dangers of water scarcity, but Turkey is deliberately making Iraq thirsty, and this represents nothing but an open war against the Iraqi people."
He stressed: "The marshes are semi-arid and desertification is looming over Iraq, and migration from the countryside to the city has great repercussions and a threat to food security. We believe that the water file is sovereign, and the state must have its weight present to support this file."
For his part, the independent MP, Karim Al-Saray, called on the government to work to internationalize the water file against Turkey, while stressing that the Turkish side did not abide by the water agreements towards Iraq.
Al-Saray said, according to Al-Zawraa: "There is an urgent need for the government to move internationally in order to put pressure on Turkey to obtain Iraq's water shares."
He added: "Turkey did not abide by the international agreements of the riparian countries, after the decline in the level of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers," calling for making the water file in Iraq a national file that gives the highest and urgent priority within the current government's program, and for it to have accurate and effective follow-up by the House of Representatives due to the seriousness of the file. And his sensitivity.
Al-Sabah newspaper, published by the Iraqi Media Network, followed the political dimensions of not closing the displacement file and keeping the displaced in the camps.
The newspaper that there are purely political and regional agendas that stand in the way of the return of the displaced to their areas of original residence stated, while it announced the presence of about one million displaced people from the western regions, Mosul and Kirkuk residing inside and outside the camps.
The head of the Migration, Displacement and Community Reconciliation Committee, Sharif Suleiman, told Al-Sabah: “The government agencies have not taken serious steps to return the displaced in the camps to their original areas of residence in the western regions, the outskirts of Baghdad, and areas west of Mosul, specifically in Sinjar district, as this is due to security and legal reasons.” purely political.”
He added: "The file has become a humanitarian and political card among international strategies and requires immediate government intervention to solve the problem of return," pointing out that the issue of the return of the displaced to the Sinjar district in particular has become a general political card that moves between political and regional agendas, and in the event that serious and quick steps are not taken, the problem will worsen. They come back for more."
Suleiman explained: "The number of displaced people from Sinjar district exceeds 300,000, while the total number of people from Sinjar district and the regions of Kirkuk ranges between 800,000 and one million displaced people. Some of them reside in the camps of the region and are of the Yazidi component, while others live outside the camps.
He continued: "There are problems related to the return of the displaced from Kirkuk, which requires security documentation for each family in preparation for their return, as these measures have not been taken yet, which has increased the burden and psychological and economic pressure on the displaced who wish to return to their areas of original residence," noting: "The return of the displaced It requires a technical and security organization in order to achieve voluntary return, and this is done by identifying the basic problems that impede their return.
Suleiman affirmed the government's ability to overcome these problems and solve them immediately, but the failure to do so is due to political reasons, in addition to the deteriorating economic situation of each displaced family, in addition to the deterioration of the service situation in their areas . / End To receive more news, subscribe to our channel on Telegram[/rtl]
