The Parliamentary Integrity Committee stated that the government is proceeding with its measures to reduce corruption through several axes, the first of which is external, to recover stolen funds, in addition to recovering people and seizing their property at home and abroad.
Committee member Talib Al-Mimar explained that "we have many cases under investigation, and we have summoned many officials in the Al-Wasat refinery, for example," noting that if "there is a suspicion of corruption in any place, department, institution or ministry, we will summon its director in addition to forming Committees within the governorates and the involvement of the committee’s deputies, especially in Nineveh governorate, as a committee of integrity was formed to investigate facts and follow up on corruption, and the departments will be approached with some cases that are tainted by corruption.
Al-Mimar added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "corruption is widespread in our institutions, and we need great cooperation against corruption, especially the Integrity Commission, which needs many ingredients to freeze this crime, in addition to helping state employees to control these crimes before committing them." .
Al-Mimar's colleague in the Integrity Committee, Representative Fahd Al-Rashed, said: "The Sudanese government is moving forward in making the government's steps to eliminate corruption a success." Al-Rashed told Al-Sabah that "Al-Sudani announced at the beginning of his assumption of the position and within his government program steps to eliminate corruption," noting that "the Integrity Committee unanimously supports the Prime Minister in eliminating corruption, in addition to that all oversight agencies work within the steps of the government program." which the government desires.
For his part, the anti-corruption expert, Muhammad al-Rubaie, said: "The prime minister's directive to recover smuggled funds and those involved in corruption has entered into force, and today he is working meticulously in this regard in implementation of an agreement signed with the United Nations to combat corruption, especially Chapter Five of it in recovering stolen funds." and people.”
Regarding the agreement, Al-Rubaie explained, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "this agreement can be applied practically, by concluding many agreements with countries that are safe havens for these funds, as there are other agreements that will be signed soon."
Al-Rubaie added, "Iraq has established a financial intelligence unit in the money laundering office in the Central Bank, and this will achieve a lot of ease and simplification of procedures towards pursuing people, seizing their money, and then recovering and prosecuting them."
