Governmental coordination with countries to recover looted funds

A day after the Prime Minister, Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani, called for proceeding with the procedures for recovering the looted funds, the Integrity Commission and the Central Bank concluded an agreement to unify efforts to pursue the accused wanted in these cases. Governmental coordination to activate the recovery of these funds, political analyst Jassem Al-Gharabi described it as an “important step” that bodes well if the political blocs cooperate with it, stressing the need for the work to be serious and strong.
Al-Gharabi told Al-Sabah: The government signed five treaties a few days ago with the Gulf states and Iran to recover some of the looted money, and was able to return some of it after agreeing with European countries and East and West Asia.
He added that Al-Sudani will work as much as he can on this file, in conjunction with services, trade and the security situation, noting that there are attempts to obstruct government efforts in this file by protecting officials who have failed in their work.
On the other hand, the political analyst, Iyad Al-Anbar, explained to Al-Sabah that the file of recovering the looted funds is a very complex file and requires cooperation between three parties: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Judiciary and Integrity, in addition to the embassies located in those countries where the money and wanted persons were smuggled, indicating that these steps require It also requires the approval of states until they are convinced of the issue of recovery, whether it is for people or funds.
Al-Anbar warned of the seriousness of this file, which could affect the public's confidence in the government, stressing the need not to rush it and complete all its procedures so that it turns into a real file accompanied by a campaign to fight corruption that returns the state a lot of money.
