Today, Saturday, the Directorate of Tribal Affairs in the Ministry of Interior announced the launch of a working paper on the issue of the Community Peace Law, while confirming that the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, issued 5 directives to criminalize clan violence.
The Director of Clan Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, Maj. Gen. Nasser Al-Nouri, said in a press statement: "The Directorate of Clan Affairs at the Ministry of Interior works within the directives of the Minister of Interior to continuously communicate and work with the hosts and offices of Iraqi clans to resolve disputes and hold clan and security conferences."
He added, "The Directorate of Clan Affairs held a meeting with the governor of Salah al-Din to discuss matters related to clan affairs, as well as the support of the province's clans for the local government and the security system as part of it," stressing, "Achieving security and community peace in the province will be positively reflected in the recovery of the economy and the provision of services and infrastructure for the province."
He continued, "The Directorate of Clan Affairs in the ministry also held a meeting with the sheikhs and notables of the governorate at the directorate's headquarters to present the working paper that was presented to the Minister of Interior on the issue of the Community Peace Law adopted by the Minister of Interior, which included correcting the course of tribal custom and refining tribal customs."
He explained, "The Minister of Interior, Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, directed through the paper that was presented with 5 points, which include first the criminalization of tribal violence, secondly, not to fire bullets in social events, and thirdly, not to attack state employees, especially teachers and doctors, and fourthly, not to displace families during tribal conflicts, as well as not to attack officers and affiliates during the duty assigned to them by some clans as they are in official work, and those who deal with these rejected behaviors will be dealt with according to the law."
Al-Nouri called on the clans of Salah al-Din province to preserve the achievements and security gains that were achieved thanks to the blood of their sons, pointing out that the Directorate of Clans Affairs has prepared a document that has been approved by the sheikhs of all provinces and will be presented to the attention of the Minister of Interior, which includes limiting weapons to the state.
