    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Sunday (August 13, 2023), Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a al-Sudani chaired a meeting of the service and engineering effort team.
A statement by Al-Sudani's office, received by "Baghdad Today", stated that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' Al-Sudani chaired a meeting of the service and engineering effort team."
The government service and engineering effort team announced earlier that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani had agreed to form a new team for street coverings, while indicating that the rehabilitation work at the northern entrance to Baghdad is proceeding in the right way after resolving all obstacles.
The head of the government service and engineering effort team, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Construction, Jaber Al-Hassani, said, "The team submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister to form a new team for paving and cladding streets from the asphalt factories in Baghdad, where the team provides them with quarry materials and asphalt fuel while they produce asphalt."
He added, "The prime minister approved the proposal, and the division's work will start soon," noting that "many of the reasons for stopping the asphalt plants are related to the mismanagement of successive local governments, as well as administrative and financial corruption and the existing slackness."
Regarding the work of the service effort team, Al-Hassani mentioned that "the Prime Minister's directives regarding the provision of services to the disadvantaged areas include the completion of infrastructure works first and then street coverings," pointing out that "providing sewage is the first priority for the works."
And he stated, "The work of the team is carried out by the engineering cadres of the competent departments under engineering supervision, according to the required specifications."
Regarding the projects to remove bottlenecks, he stressed that "the first package was launched with 19 projects, which were referred to the specialized companies that started implementation," pointing out that "these projects obtained exceptions under the direction of the Prime Minister, including an exception from the budget, from listing, and others."
And about the work of the entrances to Baghdad, he indicated that "the work of rehabilitating the northern entrance to Baghdad is proceeding properly after resolving all the obstacles facing it," pointing out that, "all the six entrances to the capital include rehabilitation work, and some of them have achieved advanced rates.
