    The Director of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Eng. Farhan Al-Fartousi, revealed the volume of work witnessed by the new navigational canal project in Khor Abdullah, and the large Al-Faw port basin, noting that as of the first third of the current month of August, (8,764,460) cubic meters of water have been lifted. mud.  
    Al-Fartousi said, in a statement received by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the works in the new navigational canal project in Khor Abdullah, along with the port basin, which is located facing the five commercial berths, one of the five projects in the large port of Al-Faw, are continuing and are witnessing advanced completion rates," especially after the visits. The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, visited the Iraqi ports, indicating that "there are three very modern rigs currently working on the project."  
    He pointed out that "the length of the navigational canal is (23) km, and its width is (200) meters, and work is continuing to reach depths of (19.8) meters, which allows receiving container ships and large goods with a weight of more than 120,000 tons."  
    He explained that "the dredger (Tong XU) is working at the site of the navigational canal, where it was able to lift (4,698,322) cubic meters of mud, with a daily drilling rate of (35,000 to 45,000) thousand cubic meters."  
    He added, "There is another drilling rig operating in the port basin, which is the drilling rig (Teshan), as it was able, during the same period, to raise (4,066,138) cubic meters of mud, and its daily digging rate is (45,000) thousand cubic meters per day."  
    And he indicated that "the executing company, under the supervision of the Al-Faw Grand Port Authority, is working on a plan during which the drilling channel works will be divided in the form of stages."  
    He pointed out that the first stage starts from the sea floor up to (13.8) meters, while the second stage included depth from (13.8) meters to (15.8) meters, and the third stage from (15.8) meters to (17.8) meters, and the fourth and final stage of ( 17.8 meters to 19.8 meters, which is the final depth of the navigational channel and the port basin.
