    Baghdad today - Erbil
Today, Wednesday (August 23, 2023), a spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government, Peshwa Hormani, commented on the existence of news that talked about the federal government's requirement to supervise the process of distributing employee salaries in the region.
Hormani said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "if the regional government implements all the requests and conditions of Baghdad, then Baghdad will set other conditions in the new meeting, and this matter does not prove good intentions to resolve the differences."
He added, "The regional government abided by all agreements, but this does not mean accepting the marginalization of constitutional rights that try to detract from the entity of the Kurdistan region, because the region is not a governorate, and it has a government and parliament, and Baghdad must deal with it according to this basis."
A former member of the Kurdistan Region Parliament and Kurdish politician, Abd al-Salam Berwari, confirmed on Monday (August 21, 2023) that the issue of the federal government’s supervision of the process of distributing salaries to the region’s employees is a constitutional violation.
Barwari said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "there is a violation of Article 121 of the constitution, which stipulates that" the Kurdistan Regional Government should carry out all that is necessary to manage the region in terms of legislative and administrative aspects.
He added, "This matter is a continuation of centralization and a blow to the democratic process, and the other issue is that there are large numbers of employees and Peshmerga who receive their salaries directly from banks or from their departments directly, and therefore the process of supervising salaries is difficult from technical theory."
Berwari pointed out that "the issue of supervising salaries by Baghdad contains evasion and arguments for not sending the budget for the region," pointing out that "the Kurdistan government has committed itself to all of Baghdad's conditions."
And on (August 16, 2023), a high-level official source in the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the Kurdistan government told "Baghdad Today" that "the data on the ground through contacts with officials in the capital, Baghdad, indicate that the federal government will send the salaries of Kurdistan employees For the months of July, provided that Baghdad distributes salaries to employees directly, without any delay, and under the supervision of a committee or person approved by the federal government, and this happens for the first time since 1990.
On the second of August, the federal government sent an amount of 598 billion dinars to the Kurdistan region, the value of the salaries of the region's employees for the month of June, while the salaries of the month of July were not sent.
