    Baghdad today - Erbil
Today, Monday (September 4, 2023), the former deputy head of the Finance Committee in the Kurdistan Regional Parliament, Hvidar Ahmed, revealed details and numbers related to the salaries of employees in the region.
Ahmed said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", that "the total amount of salaries for employees in the region is 912 billion dinars, pertaining to the salaries of employees, the Peshmerga, social welfare, martyrs and others."
He added, "The amount to be sent from Baghdad is 584 billion dinars, which is not enough to pay the full salaries of employees, and therefore the Ministry of Finance in the regional government is forced to delay the process of distributing and scheduling salaries in a week or more until it completes the rest of the amount from non-oil revenues such as customs, taxes, and others, since the export of The oil is completely off.
He pointed out that "the region has multiple expenditures, not just salaries, as there are obligations related to services, roads, bridges, and other social, humanitarian, health, and provision of medicines, medical supplies, and others."
And the Kurdistan Regional Government announced, earlier today, Monday, that the amount spent by the federal government to the region, amounting to 500 billion dinars, is not sufficient to cover the salaries of Kurdistan employees, noting that Baghdad is pursuing a policy of "starvation" against the people of Kurdistan.
"The Iraqi government decided to send only 500 billion dinars, which is not enough to cover salaries," said the spokesman for the Kurdistan government, Peshwa Hauramani, in a press conference today, describing what the Iraqi government is doing as "starving the people of Kurdistan," pointing out that "there is a violation of financial dues." Kurdistan Region," he said.
For his part, Secretary of the Council of Ministers of the Kurdistan Region, Amanj Rahim, said at the press conference that "Baghdad had to send more than a trillion dinars per month to the Kurdistan region."

As for the Chief of Staff of the Council of Ministers of the Kurdistan Region, Omid Sabah, he said during the same conference, "There are two main reasons behind this situation. The first is the budget law approved by the Iraqi parliament, which constituted the biggest blow to the constitutional achievements of the Kurdistan region. The other reason is" the way the Iraqi Ministry of Finance understands the law. The budget and its application according to its whim, which is worse than the budget law itself," as he put it.
